Closet Stamper, Part I

Published by onestampinmama at 5:11 pm under Stamp closet

Yes, I am a Closet Stamper! I am not one of those really lucky ones to have a room dedicated to my love of scrapbooking and stamping! But I feel fortunate to have what I do have.  In the next few days, I am going to share with you how I keep myself organized in a coat closet but, first let me share with you a few little facts about “my space”!

My space is a coat closet that sits under a stairwell. It measures approx. 36″ deep by 97″ long. Only a portion of the space can you stand up all the way. I use the white wire square cube system that you can find at Target. I was able to fit 19 cubes in a tiered fashion in this space. I also used zip ties and extra shelves to create individual shelves for paper/stamp/etc.  storage.

Which brings me to the first  hot topic….How do you store your paper?

I store my 12×12 paper in iris paper storage containers. I purchased mine at Michael’s, they retail for about $7.99 but usually go on sale every so often for $4.99. I have them labled one each for the colors families, plus chipboard and ribbon not on a roll. I also use these for scrapbooking and are labeled according to theme or child.  They slide in and out easily making it a breeze to get to what I am looking for or to take to the counter that I stamp/scrapbook on. This is a great storage solution for a small space. I can get 3 containers to one cube.

My 8.5×11 paper is also stored by color family, vertically in heavy duty office quality magazine style holders. I purchased these an office supply store for around $5.99 each. I find that I use my 8.5×11 paper the most so that sits on top the long shelf to have instant and easy access to. It also helps to have all of them lined up so I can see if I am running low on any particular color and can easily grab the cardstock I am looking for.

Getting really great pictures was quite the challenge because of the small space and the angle… I hope these will give you an idea of what you can do in a small space as well.

Wow - you have done a wonderful job with the space you have! Looking forward to seeing more.

I store my 8.5×11 in hanging files in a 2 drawer file cabinet - in the front of each file is a page protector for the scraps of that color. My 12×12 is in the standing Cropper Hopper things - I think you saw them on my cabinet.

Very Cool Lisa! I used to be a closet scrapper! When I first started scrapbooking I had shelves and the wire dodads in the closet! I love how well organized you are! You can come and visit anytime ;)
